Middlesbrough fans are over the moon with their side’s 1-0 victory over Premier League side Crystal Palace, progressing to the Quarter-Final of the Carabao Cup – where they will face League One Burton Albion next month.
Lewis Wing’s stunning strike from long distance in first half added time was enough to see The Boro through to the next round of the cup. Boro had the chance to score on several occasions in the first-half, but Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend came close equalising in the second half, but was denied by a good save from Boro ‘keeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos.
Boro fans were hoping they would be drawn to Burton Albion in the next round, as they look to progress to the Semi-Finals of the Carabao Cup. Their hopes came true, but shouldn’t get complacent. Despite their poor start to life in League One, Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion have impressed on their way to the Quarter-Finals, beating Shrewsbury, Aston Villa, Burnley and Nottingham Forest.
Middlesbrough fans had their say on last night’s victory on Twitter.
What a night! Get in there. Which side was the Premier league one?

Silverware over promotion for me!!!!! What’s the point in getting promoted then getting battered every week when the greatest day in Boro’s history was 29th Feb 2004……..

Wing and Tavernier have been like a breath of fresh air so far. Positive, incisive and nearly always on the front foot. Makes their absence from the squad in the Championship all the more baffling. #Boro 1-0
