Former Blackburn Rovers utility man Paul Caddis is training with Bradford City, and manager David Hopkin is considering a move for the 30-year-old, the Telegraph and Argus are reporting.
Since his release from Blackburn Rovers, Caddis has been looking for a new club, and could move to The Bantams with injury problems piling up for David Hopkin’s men.
Caddis trained with Bradford yesterday, and will continue to train with the League One side throughout this week, as he looks to build up his fitness before coming back to football. Both Kelvin Mellor and Joe Riley have picked up injuries, and do not have a natural right-back to fill in for the injured duo.
Manager David Hopkin spoke to the Telegraph and Argus about his side’s defensive injury issues:
“Paul came in yesterday and we’ll see how things transpire over the week. We need an option because obviously Kelvin’s going to be out for a while and Joe Riley is out for three to four weeks.
“Paul came play a number of positions and having a couple of utility players is what we’ve been lacking.”
Caddis spent the 2017/18 season with Blackburn Rovers, as Tony Mowbray’s side won promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking. However, the Scotsman’s contract was terminated by mutual consent at the end of August this year.
The Bantams are currently sitting at the bottom of League One, and have lost their last seven games – with relegation looking like a serious threat. The arrival of Caddis wouldn’t be the season-changing signing Hopkin’s side need, but the utility man’s experience could be valuable in the dressing room at Valley Parade.
