Scunthorpe United keeping tabs on international winger

Scunthorpe United are keeping tabs on Valletta winger Kyrian Nwoko, according to the Times of Malta.

The 21-year-old has caught the eye of the League One side playing in the Maltese Premier League and could make the move to Glanford Park in the January transfer window.

Scunthorpe have apparently been monitoring him over recent weeks and scouts from the Iron went to watch him in a recent fixture he played for Malta’s U21 side.

Nwoko has been linked with a move to England before with Crystal Palace and Huddersfield linked with him a couple of years ago.

He started his career St. Andrew’s FC in Malta and went onto become a key player for them. Nwoko then moved to Valletta last year and helped them win the Maltese Premier League and FA Trophy in his first season at the club.

A move to the Football League looks to be on the cards for him over the coming months. Scunthorpe United are currently 13th in the third tier and are 6 points of the Play-Offs. The Glanford Park side made the top six last season so are hoping to hit form as soon as possible and rise up the table.

Their new manager, Stuart McCall, who has previously managed Bradford City at this level, will be looking to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad in the January transfer window. Kyrian Nwoko could be one of his first acquisitions for the Iron and would give him another option going forward.
