Brentford set to announce Dean Smith replacement tonight

Brentford are set to announce Thomas Frank as their new manager tonight, according to Danish news source BT.

Thomas Frank was appointed as Assistant Head Coach of Brentford back in December 2016 after resigning as manager of Danish top flight side Brondby in March the same year.

Frank endured a turbulent spell at the Danish side, finishing 4th and 3rd in his first two seasons, but failed to take them into the Europa League group stage on both occasions. Prior to his resignation, the 45-year-old was criticised on a club forum by club chairman Jan Bech Andersen – who was using a made up name and account to post his thoughts about Frank.

The former Denmark youth manager helped Dean Smith build a talented, young side at Brentford, and is set to take the reigns of The Bees, with his appointment set to be announced tonight.

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas believes that Frank is a perfect fit for the job as manager of Brentford. He said:

It seems a safe decision to appoint Frank as the new manager of The Bees, as a figure that already understands the players, staff and hierachy of the club, along with how things are operated at the club.
