Today marks ten years since Hull City’s 2-1 away win at Arsenal in the Premier League.
It has since become one of the most iconic wins in the clubs’ history. It came about in the Tigers’ first ever season in the top flight following their promotion from the Championship in 2008 under Phil Brown.
Hull City burst onto the scene in the Premier League and were joint top of the table in October. Results soon fell away but the Yorkshire side did manage to stay up that season.
Hull travelled to the Emirates on 27th September 2008 in positive mood and with 2,500 excited fans who had previously dreamed of seeing their club play the so-called big teams.
The Tigers went into half-time at 0-0 only for Arsenal to take the lead just after the restart through an own goal from Paul McShane. Nevertheless, a belter from Brazilian midfielder Geovanni levelled it up for Hull, sparking bedlam in the away end.
Then just four minutes later Daniel Cousin met an Andy Dawson corner and Hull clung in for the rest of the game to secure a famous three points. Phil Brown’s side then went to Tottenham Hotspur the week after and won 1-0 at White Hart Lane, courtesy of another scorcher from Geovanni.
Times have changed at Hull City but fans still remember the inspirational side of 2008. Here is how their fans have remembered their 2-1 win away at Arsenal ten years ago today on Twitter-

It's been an incredible ten years and that win at Arsenal still stands out above it. Imagine in another ten years when we're on the way to Orient in League Two remembering the days we won at Arsenal and Spurs when our Brazilian international smashed in 2 worldies. #hcafc

10 years since that magic day away at Arsenal, what a difference 10 years can make! The best we hope for now is a point away at Bolton….. #hcafc #utt

Ten years since that win at Arsenal. My favourite day to be a #hcafc fan ever. Utterly surreal. Wembley 2008 was out of this world but plausible. A comeback win at Arsenal was barely believable then. Completely unbelievable now.
