West Brom set to snap up former Wolves and Crystal Palace winger

West Brom are set to sign winger Bakary Sako, according to Birmingham Live.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season and has been weighing up his options over the summer.

Championship side West Brom are set to hand him a route back into football and he will certainly bolster their attacking options. The Baggies have still managed to add more faces to their squad despite the transfer window being shut. Darren Moore’s side delved into the free agent market to land former Norwich City midfielder Wes Hoolahan last week and are now set to bring in Sako as well.

The Mali international moved to England in 2012 to join Wolves having previously played in France for the likes of Chateauroux and Saint-Étienne. Sako played 124 games for Wolves in all competitions and scored a combined 38 goals. He helped the Midlands side win the League One title in 2014.

He then left Molinuex in 2015 to join Premier League side Crystal Palace. He was part of the Eagles’ side who got to the FA Cup final in 2016 when they lost to Manchester United. Sako played 50 games altogether for the London outfit, scoring 8 times.

Sako is now looking forward to the next chapter of his career which is likely to be back in the Midlands with West Brom. He is a top player at Championship level and if the Baggies can get him playing, he could help them gain promotion to the Premier League this season.
