On-loan Middlesbrough goalkeeper sets sights on ‘dream’ promotion with Accrington Stanley

In a recent interview with The Lancashire Telegraph, on-loan Middlesbrough goalkeeper Connor Ripley expressed his intention of pulling out all the stops to ensure current club Accrington Stanley achieve promotion.

Connor Ripley has only made two senior appearances for his hometown club Middlesbrough, and has been subject to plenty of loan deals away from the Riverside since he made his last appearance for Boro back in 2011.

He enjoyed successful spells at clubs like Motherwell, Oldham Athletic and Bury in recent seasons, and currently plies his trade in League One with Accrington Stanley.

After getting promoted in May, Stanley are hoping to achieve double promotion into the Championship, something which Ripley believes is achievable.

“It’s one of those things where if you can get a run of results you can really do something,” he said.

“I really do believe this club can do special things this season and get in the play-offs and hopefully get promoted.

“It would be amazing if a little team like Accrington could get into the Championship, one league below the Premier League. That’s what dreams are made of.

“I do have my head in the clouds sometimes but I don’t see why it can’t happen with the players we’ve got. I see them in training every day and I really do believe we’ve got the potential to do something.”

Accrington Stanley currently sit in 10th place in League One, and just two points out of the Play Off positions, with 10 points in their first seven games.
