Middlesbrough and Aston Villa want ex-Wolves and Crystal Palace winger

Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are both interested in signing Bakary Sako, according to TEAMtalk.

The 30-year-old is currently a free agent having left Premier League side Crystal Palace at the end of the season.

Championship duo Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are both still keen on bolstering their squads and are looking into the free agent market. Sako has played in the second tier before and would be a decent signing for one of them.

Sako, who has 31 caps for the Mali national team, started his career in France with spells at US Ivry and Chateauroux as a youngster before he was snapped up by Saint Etienne in July 2009. He impressed in his three years in Ligue 1 and was signed by Wolves in August 2012 for £2.2 million.

The winger played 124 games for Wolves and scored a total of 38 goals in three seasons. Sako played a key part in their League One title winning season in 2014. His next move was to the Premier League with Crystal Palace on a free transfer and he made 50 appearances for the London side altogether.

Sako is now in the hunt for a new club and is on the radar of Boro and Aston Villa. He has proven himself in the Championship before and would be an exciting signing. He would offer another option going forward and more depth in one of their squads ahead of a promotion push.
