Vote for the Sheffield Wednesday Player of the Week!

It’s been a good few weeks for Sheffield Wednesday. Their embargo has been ended which led to the signings of Josh Onomah and Michael Hector. And now the club is on a good run of form!

In fact, their 2-1 win over Reading meant that Sheffield Wednesday had their best start in the second tier since 1990 and for the unitiated, that was when the Owls got promoted and also won the Rumbelows Cup. However the latter won’t happen in the Rumbelows Cup modern equivalent as they were knocked out by Wolves following a 2-0 defeat.

Over the week, a lot of players have impressed. But who has been the best? Well we are giving you a chance to vote on it! Here are the five players you can vote on to be the Sheffield Wednesday Player of the Week.

Ash Baker

Baker got another chance in the first team in the Carabao Cup match against Wolves as they played a reserve team in that game. He lost his spot to Liam Plamer but showed he was worth the recall with a strong performance on Tuesday night.

Matt Penney

Wednesday have seen a lot of impressive academy graduates in recent years but Penney is looking like the best of them. He has been really good in recent games and showed it again with another composed display against Reading. He even got an assist, setting up Adam Reach for the opener.

Adam Reach

You have to put one of the goalscorers on here! Reach has been a bit off so far but he has caught up now, being seriously impressive as he got the goal and showed attacking prowess during the rest of the game.

Barry Bannan

I was critical of Bannan during the match against Ipswich Town but following his new deal during the week, he is back to form. He was influential in the middle and showed why he deserved every penny of that new contract.

Lucas Joao

Joao returning to fitness has been one of the best things to happen for Wednesday. He was great again on Saturday and showed a lot of his ability with his impressive strike at the beginning of the first half.
