Leeds United capture ‘announced’ of former AC Milan and Bayern trialist youngster

All the transfer shenanigans are now over until January, today’s loan window closing after the transfer window shut earlier this month. Yet there was still time to sneak another over the line for Leeds United.

That was it for outgoings but Leeds United also sealed a deal for Norwegian youngster Niklas Haugland who’d been on trial at the club.

As Haugland’s Instagram post indicates, the 16-year-old striker has now been taken on by Leeds United, signing a three-year deal for the Whites. News of the youngster being on trial at Elland Road was actually broken from Norway itself by one of Leeds’ huge following of Scandinavian fans.

Rakner said that youngster who he calls a “wonder boy” had arrived in Leeds and looked to be about to take up a trial at Thorp Arch, something which evidently proved to be the case. Haugland arrives at Elland Road, and Leeds United, after other trials with some big clubs on the continent such as AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Salzburg.

It was whilst playing for Red Bull Salzburg that he helped them lift the Istria Youth Cup, a competition that featured youth players from Inter Milan, Chelsea, Dynamo Zagreb and Benfica.

Leeds United will be looking to reap the fruits of a blossoming Haugland, who will likely begin his time at Elland Road turning out for the club’s Under-18 set-up.
