Oldham Athletic have completed the signing of Jordan Lyden on loan from Championship side Aston Villa until January.
Unfortunately for Latics, he is unavailable for this weekend’s game against Crawley Town due to signing after the midday registration deadline.
This is the first time these two sides will face each other in League Two, all six of their previous meetings have been in League One.
Latics are unbeaten against Crawley at Boundary Park in the three matches they have played there (W2 D1).
Latics have won two of their last three league matches (D1), as many victories as in their previous 15 such matches.
Crawley have only kept one clean sheet in their last 19 league games, conceding 38 goals at an average of two per match.
About Jordan Lyden –
The youngster was handed his senior debut for Aston Villa in a disappointing 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup in January when the young Australian Under 20s international was introduced as an 83rd minute substitute.
The youngster made five further appearances for Aston Villa as the club were relegated from the Premier League. Lyden has suffered two 4-0 defeats and a 6-0 hammering in his six appearances for the club to date.
The defensive midfielder signed for Aston Villa as a 16 year old when he made the move from Australian soccer club ECU Joondalup. Since then he has graduated through the various age groups at Aston Villa to represent the first team. The youngster has captained the Under 21s side.

Hope he does well, however, yet another central midfielder? Gardner, fane, missilou, maouche, Coke, and then you've got Byrne and Baxter who can play there… surely we needed to bring in some pace on the flanks

Has been quality for our youth team for years now, hard tackler with an eye for goal. Every time he seems to get close to the first team he gets injured. Very injury prone #avfc #oafc
