Leeds United loan out misfit player to Dutch top-tier side

Ouasim Buoy was one of a raft of players brought in to the club from some of the continent’s big sides during the early throes of Andrea Radrizzani’s ownership of the club. Now, according to PEC Zwolle’s website, he’s heading there on loan.

In a brief announcement entitled ‘Ouasim Bouy starts a third period in Zwolle’, the Dutch top-tier side say that the 25-year-old defender is returning to them, loaned “for one season from Leeds United.”

Bouy started his football career in Holland, first with the youth set-up at AVV Zeeburgia and then a step up with Ajax and their youth set-up. He was then bought for around £400,000 by Italian giants Juventus, but saw his development come through a series of loan deals. He featured just the once for Juventus, but two of those loans have seen him feature 42 times (four goals/nine assists).

He was snapped up by Leeds United after being released by Juventus, but did not make an appearance for the Whites’ first-team. Instead he was loaned out to Spanish side Cultural Leonesa, a disappointing spell where he made just four appearances – totalling just 148 minutes on the pitch.

On linking back up with the Dutch side a third time, Bouy said: “I am very happy that I can start working in Zwolle again. Through my past here I know the club, the supporters and also the necessary teammates.” The way of playing football suits me and I am looking forward to being back on the pitch next season.”

Zwolle’s Technical Director Gerard Nijkamp added a little from the club, indicating that this is a move that they had also been planning to make. Speaking on this Nijkamp said: “It’s no secret we have been working on strengthening our defence for a while. That we came to Ouasim is no coincidence. In the periods that he has played with us, we have always been pleased with his defensive and constructive qualities.”

After two Eredivisie games, Zwolle sit next-to-bottom having lost both of the games that they have played having scored twice yet conceded five.
