Former Millwall manager describes Marcelo Bielsa as a “fantastic tactician”

Former Millwall manager Ian Holloway has described new Leeds United Head Coach as a “fantastic tactician”.

New Leeds United boss started his managerial spell at Leeds United in style, beating Stoke City 3-1 at Elland Road.

Stoke City who were relegated from the Premier League last season, were second best throughout the game as goals from Mateusz Klich, Pablo Hernandez and Liam Cooper were enough to give new Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa the perfect start.

The former Millwall boss Ian Holloway said this about Marcelo BieslaHe’s like a chess player, a fantastic tactician, I think he gets it over brilliantly and has a variety of formations to use in each game; and it’s great for the Leeds players to have that in control of your club. I hope it goes well for him. The nucleus of last season’s team is still there, they faded last season but with his coaching it should be very very interesting. The Leeds fans are absolutely buzzing about this man and so they should be. I’m looking forward to the game, the young pretender against the old experienced genius so let’s see how it goes.

Bielsa is a vastly experienced coach and has previously enjoyed success as head coach of the Argentina and Chile national teams, as well as at club level with Newell’s Old Boys, Athletic Bilbao and Marseille.

The 62-year-old has an impressive CV, he has won top flight league titles in Argentina with Newell’s Old Boys and Vélez Sársfield, whilst also guided Bilbao to the UEFA Europa League final and the Copa del Rey final, during his time in charge of the Spanish club.

Not only is the Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa a “fantastic tactician” but he has many contacts within the game. He has already used his link with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola this summer with the loan signing of England U21’s international Jack Harrison on a season-long loan deal.

Here is what a Marcelo Biesla side is capable of:
