Aston Villa join Leeds and Middlesbrough in race to sign Liverpool winger

Well known sports journalist Alan Nixon has posted on twitter that Aston Villa have started to show interest in 21-year-old Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo. Other sources in the shape of Birmingham Live have confirmed the interest to be true.

Ojo joined Liverpool in 2011 at youth level at first, however, in recent years he has progressed and has seen himself at various loan spells at Wigan, Wolves and most recently Fulham, in the 17/18 season where he played a role in their promotion from the Championship.

There has been significant interest for the young winger this transfer window from both Leeds, Middlesbrough as well as West Brom who had put in a £12 million bid for the player, however, it is believed the young player has ambition of playing in the premier league in the coming seasons so declined the offer.

Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp has mentioned that Ojo has had a fantastic pre-season and the boss also complimented the player on how technically gifted he is, despite this, Klopp also mentioned that it would be sensible for Ojo to go out on loan for another season in order to get regular first team game time and to continue his development.

With the transfer window drawing to a close in the coming hours, Ojo could present himself as a positive signing for Villa, even if it is just on loan. The Liverpool player is known for being fast-paced with good dribbling and pacing capabilities, as well as being a versatile attacker. It is likely that Ojo would be able to fit into Steve Bruce’s side quite comfortably in a role anywhere behind the striker.
