Five defenders who Swansea City should sign to replace Alfie Mawson

Swansea City are in the hunt for a new centre-back after selling Alfie Mawson to Fulham. Here are five players who they should sign-

Scott McKenna, Aberdeen- The 21-year-old impressed last season and has been linked with the Swans in this transfer window. McKenna, who has 4 caps for Scotland already, would be an ideal long-term replacement for Mawson and has a bright future ahead of him.

Axel Tuanzebe, Manchester United- He has already got experience in the Championship as he spent last season on loan at Aston Villa. Tuanzebe has also played 8 times for Manchester United’s first-team. He is a loan option for Swansea to explore.

Michael Hefele, Huddersfield Town- The German defender only played 2 games for the Terriers in the league last season and could leave them for the right price. Hefele has experience of gaining promotion to the Premier League and would be a shrewd signing by Graham Potter.

Michael Hector, Chelsea- It is likely that Chelsea will loan him out again next season. The Jamaican international spent the last campaign on loan in the second tier at Hull City and has also had stints at Eintracht Frankfurt and Reading in the past. He is another option who the Swans could potentially look at bringing to the Liberty Stadium before the transfer deadline.

Nedum Onuoha, free agent- The 31-year-old left QPR at the end of the season after six years at Loftus Road. He is now weighing up his options and would be a cheap option for the Swans. Onuoha is vastly experienced and has also played for Manchester City and Sunderland in the past.
