Swansea City complete deal for Manchester City attacking midfielder

Swansea City have completed the signing of Manchester City attacking midfielder Bersant Celina on a permanent deal, the club have confirmed.

Bersant Celina joins Swansea City on a permanent deal from Manchester City. The attacking midfielder joins the Swans after a successful loan spell at Ipswich Town last season.

The 21-year-old arrives at the Liberty Stadium on a four-year deal after six years at Manchester City. Celina joined City in 2012 and broke into the first team in 2016, and made four appearances for the senior team.

The Kosovo international has had two loan spells in his short career, one with Dutch side FC Twente and Ipswich Town. The youngster impressed at Portman Road, where he scored eight in 38 appearances for the Tractor Boys.

In an interview with Swansea’s club website, Celina said:

“I’m really happy to be here and can’t wait to get started”

“When I heard that Swansea wanted me, I knew straightaway it would be the best move for me because I know the manager wants to play good football.”

“There was never any doubt for me. I knew about the club’s philosophy before anybody told me about it.”

“I saw what the manager did with Ostersund. I watched the way they played against Arsenal and, when he and the club wanted me, there was no doubt.”

“I’ve been at Manchester City a long time, but it was the right time and decision.”

“I have come to Swansea because I want to play regular football. I don’t think there’s any better place for me.”
