Ipswich Town offered encouragement in striker pursuit

Ipswich Town look set to lose striker Martyn Waghorn this window, with a deal to Middlesbrough looking likely. However, Accrington Stanley striker Kayden Jackson has offered them some encouragement as the Tractor Boys look to bring him in.

AStanley striker Kayden Jackson has been the subject of significant interest this window, with Peterborough United reportedly expressing an interest. However, Ipswich Town have intensified their pursuit of the striker as rumours regarding Waghorn’s future continue.

HITC Sport reported that the Tractor Boys were ready to sign Jackson, despite late interest from QPR. However, Stanley owner Andy Holt is understandably keen to keep Jackson and his other star men.

Despite achieving promotion last year in an enjoyable campaign, Jackson admitted to the Lancashire Telegraph that he may be tempted away from Accrington by Championship interest.

When asked about the speculation, Jackson said:

“That is football, it shows that I have done something right and it shows the team did something right.”

“If the team didn’t do well then I definitely would not have done as well. Interest from elsewhere is just a part of football.”

“Whatever happens we have had a good year and I am sure we will have a good season this year as well.”

When questioned about interest, he added:

“Nothing is guaranteed in football. If you do get the chance, whether you are a player or a manager, you can’t just let it go by.”

“If the chance arises then I would love to have an opportunity but whatever happens I want to make sure I am enjoying my football next season and want to try and do well.”
