Ex-Manchester United player and Villa target NOT keen on switch

Aston Villa aren’t having a great summer. Things were looking up a couple of weeks ago with new investment and the sounds of Thierry Henry possibly arriving at Villa Park. Signings have really come as expected and neither did Henry, and by the sounds of it neither is Nick Powell.

Villa are in search of new recruits after a very quiet summer in terms of bringing players into the club. Steve Bruce kept the job and is now needing reinforcements after loans returned and players left the club after the play-off defeat at the hand of Fulham. Most notably John Terry departed and Robert Snodgrass returned to parent club West Ham United.

The news that Nick Powell isn’t fussed about a move to Villa Park shouldn’t come as much of a shock for a player who hasn’t had a great ride since a big-money move to Manchester United. After his move he was loaned out and finally seems to be coming to the boil at Wigan where he has helped them to two promotions from League One in three years.

Villa are also interested in Jordan Hugill, the West Ham striker is available on loan with both Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United interested. After breaking the news last night regarding Powell and Hugill, Nixon has now suggested Powell doesn’t fancy the move. Villa already have Mile Jedinak, Henri Lansbury and Conor Hourihane at the club as well as Glenn Whelan. A starting place would be a tough ask for Powell who seems to have found his home at Wigan.
