Birmingham City trial A-League duo in Las Palmas friendly

Sky Bet Championship club Birmingham City are running the rule over two players with A-League experience according to Birmingham Live.

Goalkeeper Tom Glover and defensive midfielder Cameron McGlip both played at the top level of the Australian game last season and are currently on trial at St Andrews.

The duo featured for Birmingham City in their 4-1 defeat to Spanish outfit Las Palmas at St George’s Park in Burton upon Trent on Friday and Blues boss Garry Monk is expected to continue to assess the pair in the coming days.

Goalkeeper Glover is currently on the books of English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the youngster was loaned out to A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners last season to gain some first team playing experience. The 20-year-old Sydney-born stopper made a handful of outings before returning to North London.

Defensive midfielder McGlip is a member of the Melbourne Victory side. The player is also comfortable playing at centre-half and has come through the academy system at the Australian club after moving to the country from Scotland.

Neither player is expected to play for Birmingham City’s first team against Brighton & Hove Albion at St Andrews this afternoon but they could be handed further outings for the Under-23s in the coming weeks should Blues boss Monk continue to consider the pair.
