Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough are two sides who may need to strengthen out on the wing before the season begins, with Middlesbrough rumoured to be losing Adama Traore to Wolves and Forest reportedly keen on bringing Sheyi Ojo to the City Ground ahead of the new season.
At present, ex-Crystal Palace winger Bakary Sako is currently a free agent, and with both of these top end Championship clubs looking for a good quality winger before the start of the Chanpionship season, Sako would be an excellent investment for either Nottingham Forest or Middlesbrough.
The winger would likely command large wages, but with Nottingham Forest close to spending £10m for Ojo and Middlesbrough seemingly set for an £18m windfall ahead of a proposed sale of Adams Traore to Wolves, both clubs would have the financial capacity to make a move for sako and to let the winger play again in the Championship.
Sako last featured in the division for Wolves, where he had a prolific spell, scoring 15 goals in 41 games for the club before earning a move to Premier League Crystal Palace, where he has spent the last three seasons at Selhurst Park.
Now that Sako is a free agent, he won’t spend long without a club and at the age of 30, he still has plenty to offer in terms of experience and know how.
The highly talented Malian international would be an ideal fit for either Middlesbrough or Nottingham Forest, and if either side made a move to bring the midfielder back to the Championship, he could be the difference between a play-off spot or promotion.
