Wolves fans ‘sad’ as Douglas prepares for Leeds move

There is plenty of happiness coming from supporters of Leeds United at hearing that the club have had an offer for Wolves wing back Barry Douglas accepted. However, fans of the Molineux club are less than pleased to see one of their shining light from last season move on.

On the flip side, some Wolves people will be of the opinion that given the step up into the Premier League, there is a need to strengthen their side even further. Despite Douglas impressing as they lifted the Sky Bet Championship title, there is the old adage of making such improvements when at your best.

Jonny Castro is primed to join the newly promoted club on loan, whilst Wolves are also in talks with Manchester City over breaking their transfer record for Oleksandr Zinchenko. Adding these two would certainly mean Douglas coming under intense competition for his place, and therefore likely dropping down the pecking order. Throw in the fact that Ruben Vinagre made his loan switch from Monaco permanent, and talented youngster Ryan Giles has impressed in pre-season as well.

The 28-year-old netted five goals last season, after making 39 appearance in their title winning campaign. He made the joint-most number of assists during that period with 14. Clearly he is a player of some talent, not just offensively, but defensively too. Leeds are looking forward to the prospect of signing him, but there is some sadness from the Wolves camp without a doubt in losing one of their favourites.
