Sunderland join Reading in the race for Brighton & Hove Albion striker

Sunderland have joined Reading in the race for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Sam Baldock, as per a report by the Sunderland Echo.

The experienced striker is on the Black Cats’ radar and they are willing to pay £1 million for his signature. Sunderland are also showing an interest in loaning Watford striker Jerome Sinclair, as reported by The72 earlier today.

Their new manager, Jack Ross, has had no problems bringing in defensive options in this transfer window. However, Sunderland have found it tough to lure strikers to the Stadium of Light and have missed on Mohamed Eisa to Bristol City and look to also lose out on Charlie Wyke.

Therefore, they may now turn their attentions to getting deals done for Jerome Sinclair and Sam Baldock.

Baldock will be some signing for Sunderland in League One if they can see off interest from Reading for him. The 28-year-old is available to leave Premier League side Brighton this summer for the right price.

He only played twice for them in the league last season and is keen to get his career back on track with a move away. Baldock joined the Seagulls in 2014 and helped them gain promotion from the Championship in 2017.

Baldock has previously played for the likes of MK Dons, West Ham United and Bristol City. He has proven in the past that he can score goals and has managed 104 goals in 334 games so far in his career, which is not a bad record. Could he be the man to fire Sunderland to promotion?
