Celtic looking to hijack Swansea forward’s move to Fenerbahce

Swansea City’s Andre Ayew was reportedly nearing a loan move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, but according to Football Ghana, Celtic are looking to hijack the move and bring the Ghanaian to Celtic Park.

The Ghanaian international only re-joined Swansea in the January transfer window, signing from West Ham United for a fee in the region of £20 million. However, new manager Graham Potter will allow Ayew to leave on loan for the coming season.

His move back to Swansea didn’t go how he had planned however, as he failed to score in his 12 appearances back in South Wales. Ayew could be looking to rediscover his form to play his way back into Swansea’s plans, or to put himself in the shop window for a move away from the Liberty.

Swansea are looking to off-load first-team players in order to free up vital space on their wage bill heading into the Championship season. Andre Ayew is a player the Swans are not looking to let go easily, and would prefer a loan deal as opposed to a permanent move.

Fenerbahce are reportedly close to agreeing terms with Ayew ahead of a loan move to Turkey, but Brendan Rodgers is hoping to hijack the deal to bring the forward to Celtic. It is not known whether Ayew would prefer a move to the Superlig or the SPL, but it is believed he wants to play at the highest possible level.

With Swansea dropping into the Championship, staying at the Liberty Stadium should be ruled out. However, with Fenerbahce and Celtic both having an opportunity to qualify for next seasons Champions League competition, it could now provide Ayew with a difficult decision to make.
