On 31 January 2017, Jiangsu Suning loaned Sainsbury to their sister club Inter Milan until 30 June 2017. He made his debut on 28 May 2017 in a 5–2 win over Udinese.

February 2018, Sainsbury moved on loan to Grasshoppers for the remainder of the 2017–18 Swiss Super League season.
