In discussion with the Hull Daily Mail, Hull City manager Nigel Adkins concludes it is a possibility that the club will not secure any of their top transfer targets before the transfer deadline. The Tigers are keen on adding Oliver Norwood, Jiri Skalak and Conor Townsend prior to the start of the Sky Bet Championship season.
Brighton & Hove Albion duo Norwood and Skalak are two that Adkins is very much keen on taking to the KCOM Stadium. They are however facing a challenge to try and do so. Hull City are in the market for Scunthorpe United left back Townsend as well, but the Iron have rejected an opening offer for the player.
Adkins clearly remains interested in the trio and is still hopeful of signing them, but admits that is not for definite,
“We’ve had bids on the table and that’s come out publicly now.
“There’s three players who names are out there. The offers we’ve put in have been rejected so the club have got to be in positions whether they continue those negotiations or not. We’ll have to wait and see.”
The former Sheffield United boss says he wants a squad of 20 outfield players, supplemented by a further ten from the Under-23 side if required.
Brandon Barker of Manchester City is the latest name to be linked with a move to Humberside.
Snapping up Townsend means they would be bringing back a player who came through the ranks with the football club, making just one solitary League One appearance.
