Stoke want Derby man Tom Lawrence to replace Shaqiri

It’s been a slow window for Frank Lampard and Derby County, with the majority of their transfer news regarding departures and the latest rumours will have fans worrying further.

With the uncertainty of Matej Vydra’s future ongoing, with not just a host of Championship clubs chasing his signature, but Premier League sides too.

Vydra was the Championship top goalscorer last year and will be pivotal to any sort of success for Derby this year and his goals will prove him to be irreplaceable for the Rams.

Derby now face a whole new challenge surrounding key players, with Stoke City said to be interested in Tom Lawrence, according to HITC.  The bad blood between Rowett and Derby will be present for some time, and poaching Derby’s big-name players from Pride Park will create more tension between the two.

The recent signings of wingers Harry Wilson and Florian Jozefzoon from Liverpool and Brentford Respectively have provided fuel to the ongoing rumours, and will leave Derby fans waiting reluctantly once more.

Another factor in the links for Lawrence could be the Potters’ pursuit of wingers Tom Ince and Matt Ritchie. With the Ritchie deal looking more and more unlikely as days go on, Rowett will be keen to find a suitable replacement for his squad.

The Daily Star reported that Ince is set to undergo a medical at Stoke within the next few days, another man who Rowett has managed at Derby in the past.

Having spent just one season at Huddersfield, Ince remains on his continuous pursuit of his maximum potential, having found his career largely frustrating so thus far, but a reunion with Rowett could be exactly what the 26-year-old needs.
