Newcastle United want £6 million deal for Bristol City’s Joe Bryan

Newcastle United are keen on tying up a £6 million deal for Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side are in the hunt for some new signings to help bolster their squad ahead of another upcoming top flight campaign for them.

Their manager, Rafa Benitez, is hoping to bring Bristol City’s Joe Bryan to St James’ Park before the transfer window shuts. He is believed to be big fan of the 24-year-old, who has impressed for Bristol City in the Championship over recent seasons.

Bryan has been the subject of interest from various Premier League and Championship clubs so it was always going to be difficult for Bristol City to keep hold of him this summer. It now appears that Newcastle United are winning the race to sign him.

The Bristol-born defender started his career with the Robins and rose through the youth ranks at Ashton Gate. Bryan had loan spells at Bath City and Plymouth Argyle as a youngster before breaking into Bristol City’s first-team.

Bryan has played 229 games for the Robins to date and has scored 20 goals for them. He made the headlines last season after bagging for them in their League Cup tie against Manchester United.

The left-back has had a successful time at Bristol City and has won the League One title and the Football League Trophy. It appears that now is the right time for him to test himself at the top level and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
