Yeovil Town eager to bring promising Championship youngster to the club

Yeovil Town manager Darren Way is looking to re-sign up and coming Middlesbrough midfielder Lewis Wing on loan until the end of the season, according to Somerset Live.

Wing spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Huish Park last season, and Way is looking to bolster his squad and re-sign the wide-midfielder.

He is yet to play in the Championship for Boro since arriving from Northern League side Shildon last season, but did feature against Aston Villa and Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup for the Teessiders.

His loan spell at Yeovil was a successful one, and was one of the stand out players as The Glovers hosted Manchester United in the FA Cup in January, although he couldn’t help them avoid defeat against the Red Devils.

In 20 games for the League Two side, Wing scored three goals and was primarily used as a central midfielder, as opposed to his preferred attacking role. It is easy to see why manager Darren Way is eager to bring back the Middlesbrough man.

After Yeovil’s most recent friendly against Bristol Rovers, Way was asked if Wing was on his shortlist for the coming season, and it was clear he wants to re-sign the midfielder for another season.

“100 per cent. 110 per cent” he said.

“I’m hoping Tony (Pulis) can perhaps do me a real big favour. All I know is he’s a fantastic player and (if) added to that collection of players out there tonight, things are looking good.”

Wing is currently with Middlesbrough on their pre-season, and scored a long-range strike for Boro as they were beaten 2-1 by Bundesliga side Augsburg last night.
