Aberdeen put huge price-tag on Swansea and Hull-linked defender

According to The Daily Record, Aberdeen have named their price for defender Scott McKenna, who has been attracting interest from Swansea City and Hull in recent weeks.

Aberdeen are demanding a huge fee of £10 million for the 21-year old centre-back, who has been linked with a move away from the club this transfer window. Both Hull and Swansea are reportedly interested in the Scottish international.

According to the same report in The Daily Record, Aberdeen have already rejected a bid from the Tigers of £2 million, and are now looking for considerably more if they are to let the defender go.

Aberdeen are currently in the process of building a new £50 million stadium, and will not be selling players for cheap as they look to recuperate the new stadium costs. They are set to play hardball over vital members of their squad, and are holding out for big money.

McKenna will be in action in the Europa League Play Offs against Burnley next week, and new Swansea manager Graham Potter is to watch his transfer target in action.

The centre-back is now a first-team regular for the Scottish national side, with Scotland boss Alex McLeish extremely impressed with the youngsters performances so far. McKenna even captained the side as Scotland lost 1-0 to Mexico in June, highlighting the youngsters maturity.

A poll on The Daily Record highlighted that the readers thought McKenna was worth ‘More than £6 million’ with 32% of the votes. However, ‘£10 million’ was a close second with 31%.

Aberdeen may have priced out Hull City, but the Swans look better positioned to make a bid given the parachute payments received after relegation.
