Three goalkeepers Birmingham City should look to sign this summer

It appears that Birmingham City have failed in their attempts to lure goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski to St Andrews. After telling David Stockdale and Tomasz Kuszczak they are free to leave the club, here are three shot stoppers that Garry Monk could turn his attentions to this summer.

Daniel Bentley, Brentford – Bentley has impressed since his move to Griffin Park from Southend United. After joining the Bees in 2016, Bentley has quickly established himself as Dean Smith’s number one, making 90 appearances in two seasons. He wont come cheap as he still has two years left on his current contract with Brentford, having pen to paper on a four year deal when he initially joined the Londoners. He has Championship experience and would provide a good foundation to build on for the last few weeks of the summer window.

Danny Ward, Liverpool – Ward is currently third choice at Anfield and is at an age now where he needs to be playing regular first team football. Ward was instrumental part of Huddersfield’s squad that won promotion to the Premier League as he completed a loan spell with the Terriers during the 16/17 campaign. The Welshman has the experience of winning promotion from the  Championship and should be considered by Monk.

Wes Foderingham, Rangers – The Rangers goalkeeper has slipped down the pecking order at Ibrox after the arrival of Alan McGregor. The former Swindon man is now third choice at the Scottish club and looks set to leave this summer. Foderingham would be a smart signing by the Blues and would provide a steady pair of hands between the sticks at St Andrews next season.
