“The right move”- Leeds United fans react to Marcus Antonsson’s imminent departure

Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson is set to leave the club and join Swedish side Malmo, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay on Twitter.

There was also interest from Italian side Brescia in him but he is now set for a return to Sweden with Malmo having won the race to sign him.

Antonsson joined Leeds in June 2016 from Kalmar and was brought to Elland Road by ex-Whites’ boss Garry Monk. However, he struggled to adapt to life in the Championship and scored just 3 goals in 21 appearances for Leeds, with only one goal coming in the league.

He was shipped out on loan to League One last season with Blackburn Rovers by Thomas Christiansen last summer and was decent for the Ewood Park outfit. Antonsson bagged 8 goals for them in all competitions and helped them gain an immediate return to the Championship.

Prior to moving to England, Antonsson had been in great goal scoring form in Sweden with Kalmar, where he scored a combined 25 goals in two seasons in the Allsvenskan. Malmo will be hoping he can recapture this goal scoring form for them next season.

Here is how Leeds United fans have reacted on Twitter to Marcus Antonsson’s imminent departure to Malmo-
