MK Dons suffer defeat at hands of non-league Brackley Town

MK Dons suffered a blow last night as they lost 1-0 to Brackley Town in a pre-season friendly.

So far, MK Dons’ pre-season has been great. They beat Newport Pagnell Town 3-0 in their pre-season opener and followed that up with a 5-1 victory over St Neots Town. But they suffered their first loss of pre-season last night as they lost to Brackley Town.

Brackley took the lead almost immediately as they got their only goal after just two minutes. They earned an early corner and it was hit into the box for Gareth Dean who was able to head the ball down to Courtney Richards who would finish to get the only goal of the game.

MK Dons did almost score straight after that but while Aidan Nesbitt’s cross was very good, Brackley were able to get the ball away just as it was getting to Robbie Simpson.

Like in many pre-season games, MK Dons made wholesale changes for the second half with ten substitutes coming on. But they were unable to get that vital goal either even though it seemed to come very easy for them in earlier friendlies. The closest they got was when Liam Sole’s shot was curled past the goalkeeper but also the post. And so in the end the Dons would suffer a poor defeat to non-league side Brackley.

Next up for MK Dons they will be on tour facing Spanish side UD Almeria on the 18th July. Their Sky Bet League Two campaign will start against Oldham Athletic.
