Cheltenham Town batter Cirencester as they cruise to win

Cheltenham Town eased to a 4-0 win against Cirencester Town in a pre-season friendly.

The Robins would have been pleased with their performance last season as they finished 17th in Sky Bet League Two. But they will want to push up the table and perhaps even challenge for the play-offs this season and a good pre-season would be great groundwork for that.

And they showed plenty of promise in this friendly as it didn’t take that long until they opened the scoring. Last season’s star Mohamed Eisa was on the score sheet when a quick free kick caught out the Cirencester defence and he was able to control before finishing. Just a minute later Eisa got another when he used his ability to get past the defence before finishing coolly.

The first half continued to be a bloodbath for Cheltenham when the trialist Kalvin Lumbombo Kalala got the ball on the edge of the box before he smashed it in. The game was all wrapped up just before the end of the first half when Eisa got the ball once again turned the defence inside out before curling it into the top corner. The second half saw a much calmer game where Cheltenham’s mass changes at the half took the fire out of the game and it would end with a confidence boosting 4-0 win.

Cheltenham’s next friendly will be against the Reading U23s on the 17th July though that will take place behind closed doors. Their next public friendly will be against Evesham Friendly on the 19th July.
