Leeds United are set to sign goalkeeper Jamal Blackman from Chelsea, as reported by The72 earlier today.
The Whites have been in the hunt for a new goalkeeper throughout this transfer window and have been linked with the likes of Angus Gunn from Manchester City, who has now joined Premier League side Southampton, and Birmingham City’s David Stockdale.
They have now found their man in Chelsea’ Jamal Blackman, who is expected to join the Elland Road club imminently. He will become the second player from Chelsea to join Leeds in this transfer window. Highly-rated midfielder Lewis Baker, who spent last season on loan in the Championship with Middlesbrough, joined Leeds on a season-long loan last month.
Blackman has never made a senior appearance for Chelsea but has gained plenty of first-team experience during loan spells away from Stamford Bridge. He has enjoyed stints at Wycombe Wanderers, Middlesbrough, Swedish side Ostersunds and most recently Sheffield United.
Leeds fans will be hoping they can bring some more players before the start of the season and Blackman will be a useful acquisition for them. Here is how their fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that the 24-year-old shot stopper is set to join their club-
Loan signing or not, Jamal Blackman is a very good goalkeeper at this level 👏 #lufc

All those moaning because we are signing Blackman instead of Stockdale. Blackman a quality young prospect. Had a great season at Sheff Utd too #lufc

Would have picked Stockdale over Blackman… but very pleased… great Keeper with a lot of height to dominate his area… something #lufc have been lacking for a long time

Very happy with the Blackman deal however can't help but feel for the development of BPF, only upside is other clubs don't see his qualities and we get to keep him for another season 😂😂 #lufc

Blackman was pretty brilliant for Sheffield Utd, can't say I'm disappointed with that signing. Fills a position well and keeps our funds free for players who can win games. #LUFC
