Liverpool’s Shaqiri deal could see Leeds United miss out on ANOTHER transfer target

With Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri seemingly set to join Liverpool in the next few days, Leeds United could be set for even more transfer disappointment.

The Potters are keen for Liverpool to include a season-long loan deal for much-coveted winger Harry Wilson as a partial exchange in Shaqiri’s move to Anfield.

Leeds are one of the clubs currently chasing a loan deal for the 21-year-old Welsh winger, but with Stoke emerging as the new frontrunners to land the tricky wide man, the Whites look set for another dose of transfer disappointment.

The Whites have already missed out on a host of key transfer targets this summer, with bids for attacking duo Matej Vydra and Abel Hernandez failing to materialise, as well as an inherent lack of success on the goalkeeper hunt front, with moves for David Stockdale and Angus Gunn also falling through.

Wilson has been one of the hottest properties amongst Championship clubs this summer, with almost half of the clubs in the league interested in bringing the four-time Wales international in on loan.

Despite earning plenty of admirers with the Liverpool youth teams over the years, it was last year on loan at Hull City where Wilson established himself as one of Liverpool’s brightest prospects, scoring an impressive seven goals in 13 games as the Tigers launched a late escape from relegation.

Now Wilson looks set to be battling at the top end of the table as he potentially gets set to join up with Gary Rowett’s talented Stoke City team.
