Premier League midfielder and Middlesbrough target valued at just £6 million

According to The Liverpool Echos’ Adam Jones, Everton midfielder and Middlesbrough target Muhamed Besic is valued between £6 million and £7 million.

Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic has been linked to Middlesbrough throughout the transfer window, but the Bosnian international is no closer to a deal with the Teessiders as yet.

Boro’s signing of Sunderland’s Paddy McNair has put doubts into fans who were looking forward to seeing Besic re-join Middlesbrough after a successful loan spell last season. Manager Tony Pulis addressed the need for a central midfielder, and Besic was seen as the answer to their woes. However, McNair could now be the man to fill that void.

The Toffees central-midfielder was bought for £4 million in 2014 from Hungarian side Ferencváros. However, he has gone on to make only 47 Premier League appearances for Everton in four years, and now could be the perfect time to find a new club.

Middlesbrough’s interest remains, and are still actively looking to bring Besic back to the Riverside, and new Everton boss Marco Silva has already began shipping out the deadwood at the club.

Departures including Ramiro Funes Mori and Joel Robles have seen Everton free up some vital space in their squad. Also the high profile sale of Wayne Rooney has also reduced a significant amount from their wage bill, and Besic could be next to leave.

Middlesbrough have already spent a total of over £10 million so far this window on Paddy McNair and Bristol City’s Aden Flint. But the likes of Ben Gibson, Adama Traore and Britt Assombalonga have been subject to interest, and could leave the club for large transfer fees. This could see Middlesbrough push for a deal with the Everton man.
