Derby County set to land impressive loan deal for Chelsea starlet

Derby County target Mason Mount will sign a new deal at Chelsea before joining the Rams on loan, as per a report by Derbyshire Live.

The new Rams’ boss, Frank Lampard, has been looking to use his contacts at Chelsea to bring in some young talent to Pride Park and looks set to land the highly-rated Mason Mount.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan in the Dutch Eredivisie at Vitesse and impressed for them during his spell there. Mount played 39 games for them and chipped in with 14 goals from midfield and won their Player of the Year.  He has been a man in demand this summer but it now looks like Derby will win the race for him.

Mount joined Chelsea at the age of six and rose through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge. He is yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues, hence why they are keen to loan him out again next season for more first-team experience.

He has represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level. Mount was invited to train with England’s senior squad ahead of the World Cup in Russia.

Mount is an exciting young talent and would be a very impressive loan signing for Derby County. The Championship side want to get busy in the transfer market now as Frank Lampard looks to put his own stamp on his newly inherited side.

The Rams are yet to make a signing so far this summer but Mount could be the first through the door at Pride Park.
