Ex-Nottingham Forest youngster and ex-Notts County winger on trial at Burton Albion

Burton Albion have taken ex-Nottingham Forest youngster Luke McCormick and ex-Notts County winger Elliott Hodge on trial this pre-season, according to Derbyshire Live.

19-year-old striker Luke McCormick can also operate as an attacking midfielder, was yet to make his senior debut for Nottingham Forest before being released in the summer but he featured for the club’s under-18s and under-23s sides.

Elliott Hodge was released by Notts County in May, having spent the second half of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Alfreton Town in the National League.

“Yes, there’s always the view to [signing] them – we don’t take them in just for the sake of it,” said Clough when asked about possible moves for trialists.

“We’ve got Elliot Hodge on trial from Notts County, he’s Steve Hodge’s son (former Nottingham Forest and England midfielder).”

“And we’ve got Luke McCormick, who came in on Monday – he’s ex-Forest.”

“And then there’s Tomas Egert, obviously, who is here as well.”

This summer, Burton Albion have signed former Dundee United midfielder Scott Fraser on a two-year deal.

Scott Fraser come through the youth ranks at Dundee United and has played for Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership and Championship.

Scott Fraser said this after putting pen to paper at Burton Albion: “I’m very happy to be here. I think it’s the right move for me. When I found out what clubs might be interested this was the best feel I got and having spoken to the manager and coming down to see the ground and training facilities I think it’s a club where I can get better as a player.”

“I’m an attacking player who likes to get on the ball whether that’s midfield or more of an attacking position. I like to create chances and assists for my team-mates but I want to add more goals too.”

“I was coming to the end of my contract and was speaking about a new one, but I just felt a change was needed to move away, grow up and try and improve as a player. And everything about this move felt right.”
