Sam Winnall spent last season on loan with Derby County, but is contracted to Hillsborough for the next two years. He has made less than 20 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday since signing from Barnsley 18 months ago.
Chris Wilder is keen to add firepower to his frontline with Aston Villa’s Scott Hogan and Sam Gallagher of Southampton known to feature on his wanted list and now Sam Winnall joins them.
About Sam Winnall –
He began his career at Wolves and had three short loan spells away from Molineux, but Winnall truly kick-started his career with Scunthorpe United, for whom he scored 23 goals in just 43 games.
He was the leading goalscorer for Scunthorpe and in the whole of League Two in the 2013/14 campaign.
Barnsley pounced to get Winnall’s signature, and he continued his exploits in the final third, scoring 41 goals from only 79 appearances after joining the club in July 2014.
A key part of Barnsley’s promotion from League One in 2015/16, coupled with their lifting of the Football League Trophy. Winnall duly continued his rich pedigree in the Championship, scoring 11 goals before his January switch to Sheffield Wednesday.
Overall, Sam Winnall has hugely impressive statistics of 76 goals from 153 league starts.

Sam Winnall would suit Sheffield United’s system nicely. For the right money, (bare in mind Madine went for £6M), I’d be happy to let him go. #swfc
