Highly-rated Leeds United defender Paudie O’Connor has joined Blackpool on a season-long loan deal, confirmed by the club website.
Leeds United defender Paudie O’Connor has joined Blackpool on a season-long loan deal.
Paudie O’Connor signed for Leeds from Limerick in 2017 and was named as captain of the Under-23s upon his arrival.
His performances for Carlos Corberan’s side earned him a senior debut against Sunderland back in April and he went on to make three further Sky Bet Championship appearances during the back end of 2017/18 campaign.
Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer said: “I’m really pleased to bring Paudie to the club after what has been a really promising season for him at Leeds United. He’s an aggressive defender who has impressed in the four games he has played in The Championship and we’re really looking forward to seeing him continue his development with us.”
Paudie O’Connor said: “I’ve had a nice week of getting a new deal at Leeds and then getting the opportunity to come to a great club like Blackpool. I’m really excited to get in, meet the lads and get training. I’m looking forward to getting a full season of first-team football under my belt, hopefully.”
Paudie O’Connor recently put pen to paper on a new two year contract with the club and now will now continue his development at Bloomfield Road where he will look to gain further first team experience.

Paudie was a rare gem last season, showed brilliance. Must definitely be big replacements planned if he's been loaned out. #lufc

Shame that, he did well with first team. One for future for sure though, be good to see him develop and play a full season in league one

Don’t get this. Think he earned a first team squad position based on his performances at end of season
