England World Cup star admits his idol was former Oldham Athletic full-back

England World Cup star Kieran Trippier has admitted that his idol was his brother and former Oldham Athletic full-back Kelvin Lomax, according to iNews.

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier has been one England’s best players at the World Cup, and has been talked about as the best right-back at this World Cup.

The 27-year-old claims that he has always idolised David Beckham since he was a child, and studied the set-piece delivery of Andrea Pirlo, but it is a full-back who spent seven years at Oldham Athletic who has had the greatest impact on Kieran Trippier’s career.

Kelvin Lomax is a full-back and he began his career at Oldham Athletic. He spent seven years in the first team squad, he made a total of 82 appearances for Latics.

Kieran Trippier told iNews: “I just played with my brother because when I was younger my brother was playing for Oldham, he was in League One and League Two, and he’s the one I looked up to”

“I used to go and watch him every week, watching his training sessions at Oldham, playing there, kicking it against the wall. I just looked up to my brother because he was a professional and he was the one I wanted to follow.”

“Unfortunately, he is not playing now but he’s the one who has helped me a hell of a lot. He was a full-back. He was a right-back and left-back. He played a few games in the Football League and he’s had a big impact on my career.”
