Opinion: Five players Sheffield Wednesday could sign to replace Jack Hunt

Sheffield Wednesday are in the hunt to sign a new right-back with Jack Hunt set to join Bristol City, as reported by The72 yesterday. Here are five players they could go for-

Sam Byram, West Ham United- The former Leeds United defender could leave West Ham United this summer having fallen down the pecking order at the Premier League side. Byram has proven himself in the Championship before and would be ideal for the Owls.

Chris Gunter, Reading- The Wales international could be seeking a fresh challenge in his career and he would be a very astute signing for Sheffield Wednesday. He has bags of experience at Championship level and would fill the gap let by Hunt’s likely departure.

Moses Odubajo- He is looking for a new club after leaving Hull City at the end of the season. The 24-year-old has been training with Celtic and Brentford but Sheffield Wednesday should swoop to sign him. He, like Hunt, is an attacking full-back so offers something going forward as well.

Ola Aina, Chelsea- The Nigeria international could leave Chelsea on loan again for next season and he is another attacking right-back who would suit Sheffield Wednesday’s style of play under Jos Luhukay. He spent last season on loan at Hull City.

Darnell Fisher, Preston North End- The former Celtic and Rotherham United right-back impressed last season for Preston and would be perfect for the Owls. He is still only 24-years-old so has a bright future ahead of him in the game.
