The Manchester Evening News has produced fresh reports this morning that Manchester United are prepared to make a bid for Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri in order to try and bring the forward to Old Trafford rather than Anfield, where he has been linked with a move all summer.
Last night we reported that Manchester United were reportedly interested in the Stoke City attacker but it appears this morning that the Premier League giants have serious interest in bringing the Swiss International to Old Trafford ahead of the new season for a cut-price £12m deal.
Jose Mourinho has supposedly been interested by the midfielders World Cup performances with Shaqiri scoring once during the World Cup and offering creativity from midfield as his Switzerland side reached the Round of 16 in the tournament when they bowed out to a defeat to Sweden at the hands of a goal by Emil Forsberg.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield for virtually the entirety of summer but it seems Manchester United are keen to try and attract the midfielder to themselves, rather than their bitter rivals.
It’s thought that Shaqiri has a £12m release clause written in his contract which may mean that it becomes a case of who is prepared to offer the midfielder the most lucrative wage packet.
Both clubs would be happy to bring the midfielder in on the cheap and he would offer that little bit extra from both clubs coming off the bench during the Premier League season and for the sake of £12m, Shaqiri is an absolute bargain.
