Hull City and Swansea City want to sign Yeovil Town defender

Hull City and Swansea City want to sign Yeovil Town’s Tom James according to a report from Sky Sports.

While Yeovil may not be known for producing many great players, James seems like he may be set for great things. The 22-year-old defender didn’t break through into the first team at Cardiff City, only making one league appearance for them. But since moving to Yeovil in 2017 following his release from Cardiff, he has been a key player and has made 40 appearances for the Glovers.

And now James may be set to return to the Championship as he is linked with two teams expected to be in the chase for promotion. Hull may have already signed Eric Lichaj this summer but are looking for another right-back who could back him up. With James having the potential to overtake him and become a first teamer, they see him as an ideal signing. Swansea are also linked as they would hope to persuade James to be on that list of players who have competed for both of the major South Wales sides.

This report states that both sides have been in touch with Yeovil and have made inquiries into how much he could cost and if he was available. For Swansea while they might be interested in signing him, they would likely have to get rid of some of their high earners so they can bring in James. Hull however may not be able to persuade James to move if he won’t be a regular for them.
