Does Jay-Roy Grot’s departure from Leeds United open the door to a Vydra move?

As we reported earlier, Leeds United announced that striker Jay Roy-Grot has moved back to his native Holland to sign for Eredivisie club VVV-Venlo which is positive news for Leeds United fans, as it may suggest that the club are opening the door for a striker to move into the club.

Vydra scored 22 goals last season for Derby County and has been linked with a move to Leeds United for several weeks now. It’s though that the striker is to be sold during this transfer window to free up some transfer funds for Derby County’s new manager, Frank Lampard during this summer transfer window.

Vydra is expected to cost somewhere between £7-11m and would bring a huge amount of excitement with him to Elland Road if he was to move, largely because the striker is so prolific in the Championship and he would have a chance to link up with new Whites Head Coach Marcelo Bielsa who is renowned for his attacking brand of football.

The West-Yorkshire club are reportedly trying to bring in a number of targets and after two players in Grot and goalkeeper Andy Lonergan have left the club today, it suggests that Leeds United have opened the door for several players to move to the West-Yorkshire club in the coming days.

We’ll see in the coming days if Grot is quickly replaced at Elland Road, but it certainly would make more sense if Leeds United had several ready-made replacements for the outgoing Dutchman – so it’s rather likely signings are ready to come and the long wait for several signings for Leeds United fans will finally come to a conclusion.
