Three new Premier League clubs join race for Middlesbrough star

According to The Sun, Huddersfield Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton have joined the race to sign Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore.

A long list of clubs are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore, and has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Paris Saint Germain in recent weeks.

Now Premier League sides Huddersfield, Southampton and Wolves have expressed their interest in the midfielder to boost their chances in the top flight next season.

Middlesbrough are holding out for around £20 million, and The Sun report both Huddersfield and Wolves  are willing to pay a reported release clause in Traore’s contract of £18 million, which will allow them to discuss personal terms with the Spaniard.

Although Southampton are interested in the Spain under-21 international, their recent signing of Basel’s Mohamed Elyounoussi for £16 million means they may cool their interest.

Traore was key in Middlesbrough achieving a fifth place finish, and was a revelation under Tony Pulis, when he took over at the club in December.

Under previous Boro manager Gary Monk, Traore struggled to make an impression, but after December he managed to score five goals and register 10 assists. This form is what has brought on so much attention from the top flight in England and beyond.

The 22-year old possesses blistering pace and excellent close control, and it is easy to see why he has his suitors. The youngster will be looking for a better return on his return to Premier League however, after registering no goals and just one assist for Middlesbrough in their 2016/17 Premier League campaign.
