Oldham Athletic say “bonjour” to French-born playmaker from FC Dieppe

Oldham Athletic have announced that they have signed French-born midfielder Johan Branger on a one-year contract, confirmed by the club website.

The French-born playmaker joins Latics from Championnat National 2 side FC Dieppe and is Oldham’s second signing this summer.

The 24-year-old netted 11 goals in 26 games last season for FC Dieppe and he has also featured for Gabon in 2012 against South Africa.

Johan Branger came through the youth ranks at French side Auxerre before having spells with US Raon-l’Étape and FC Sens.

The midfielder said: “I’m happy to be part of the Oldham Athletic family and can’t wait to challenge myself in England.”

Earlier today, Gevaro Nepomuceno signed a one-year contract extension with Oldham Athletic.

The 25-year-oldmanaged to make 30 appearances for Latics last season and scored one goal, which came in a 5-1 win over Northampton Town in December.

The winger will remain with Oldham Athletic until the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

Nepomuceno said this about signing a new deal: “I feel amazing and I want to be a part of the club and team again for a year.”

“With a fresh start we need all the club together and we need to win as many games as we can this season.”

Frankie Bunn is the new man in charge at Latics. “I like him as a person and a coach,” admitted the Curacao international.

“The way he is thinking and the way he wants us to play is a good feeling. I’m happy to be a part of the way he thinks and how he wants to play.”
