Norwich City make third new signing of the transfer window

Norwich City have signed former Celtic striker and Finnish International Teemu Pukki on a three year deal, officially confirmed by the club website.

The Finnish striker joins the club on a free transfer after his contract with Danish club Brondby expired.

In a four year stint at Brondby, Pukki made 130 appearances, scoring 55 goals.

He becomes the Canaries third signing of the summer, after the arrivals of Emil Buendia and Moritz Leitner.

Norwich have already accumulated a healthy profit so far this summer with the sales of both Josh Murphy and James Maddison.

Maddison, who was sold to Leicester City, was the Yellows’ top scorer last season, and Daniel Farke has acted quickly to find a man to score the goals next campaign.

Pukki had a season at Celtic during the 2013/14 campaign, where he made 26 appearances for the SPL giants, scoring on 7 occasions.

The forward has also represented Finland at a number of youth levels as well as the senior side.

He has represented his country at U17, U19, and U21 level and has made 64 appearances for the senior side, scoring 12 goals.

Speaking to the club website, Daniel Farke said: “I’m very pleased with this signing. We got the feeling that Teemu is a good fit to our ideas because he is a technical player with really smart movements.

“We were speaking about how we need to make more runs in-behind and runs from deep and he’s a player who has the smart movements.

“He also has lots of speed which is also important. Wherever he plays, he was always able to be there with goals and assists.”

Norwich will be hoping that Pukki can provide the goals at Carrow Road next season, as the Canaries look to build a Playoff charge after last season’s poor finish.
