Chairman’s Twitter spree provides updates on Posh’s transfer activity

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony stated that signing number ten will be made next week.

Peterborough United will announce their tenth signing of the transfer window next week. This latest teasing tweet from MacAnthony has got Posh fans speculating over who could be the next through the door at London Road.

MacAnthony dropped a clue about who the signing could be when asked about the position of the next signing.

Adam King is the player rumoured to be arriving on Monday. King was on loan at Mansfield last season from Swansea, and was signed by Posh manager Steve Evans – who was in charge of the Stags at the time. The Scottish midfielder made 7 appearances at Mansfield last season.

One of the other names mentioned is Jamie Hanson. Hanson fits the description well, a centre midfielder that can also play at right-back. The 22 year-old played 8 times at Derby County last season, and could be sent out on loan by Frank Lampard in search of more game time. Hanson fits Evans’ style, at 1.9m tall, he offers a physical presence in the midfield.

The ‘other CB’ mentioned by MacAnthony has also caused speculation. Sean Raggett was mentioned, after making only 2 Championship appearances last season, and he could be set to move away. Leeds youngster Paudie O’Connor is also set for a loan move after signing a new contract at Elland Road, and Steve Evans – former Leeds manager – could use his contacts with the club to bring the 20 year-old to Peterborough.

Posh chairman MacAnthony also offered an update on Jack Baldwin’s situation. As reported here on The72, the centre-back has been subject of interest from relegated Sunderland.

The Peterborough Telegraph also reported that Baldwin is set to move north to the Stadium of Light. It is thought that The Black Cats are paying £250,000 to recruit the services of Posh’s captain.
