Three goalkeepers QPR could sign to replace Alex Smithies

After Alex Smithies underwent a medical at Cardiff City ahead of a £4m move, it leaves Steve McClaren without a number one goalkeeper. Here are three keepers that the former England boss could bring to Loftus Road this summer:

Danny Ward, Liverpool – The Liverpool goalkeeper is currently third choice at Anfield behind both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet. At 25 years old, Ward now needs to find regular first team football. Ward went on loan to Huddersfield Town during the 16/17 season and played a huge part in helping the Terriers reach the Premier League. He made 43 appearances in the Championship and made some key stops in the Playoff Final against Reading. His experience in the second tier could be crucial and McClaren should look to bring him to London during this transfer window.

Jamal Blackman, Chelsea – The Chelsea academy graduate spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and made 31 appearances for the Blades. He impressed during his time at Bramall Lane, but Chris Wilder elected not to bring him back to the club in favour of a move for Dean Henderson. The giant goalkeeper has been on the books at Stamford Bridge since 2006 but he has still yet to make a first team appearance for the Blues. He would be a safe pair of hands between the sticks at Loftus Road next campaign.

Ben Amos, Bolton Wanderers – The 28 year old shot stopper spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic where he had a fantastic season at The Valley. He was loaned out by Phil Parkinson because he did not feature in his first team plans but Amos moved to London and helped the Addicks reach the Playoffs. He played every game of the League One campaign, keeping 14 clean sheets. Unwanted at Bolton, he could find a new home at the Hoops.
